Life Drawing has captured my interest after many years of being away. I recently began attending life sessions that are offered at various locations in Central Florida.

I am seeking a to find a balance between the pencil and charcoal drawing and the spontaneity of the watercolor.

Experimenting with different papers, conte or charcoal, I always look to find a final painting with each attempt.

The drawings posted are from 10 and 20 minute poses.

"Draped Nude" and "Classic Male" were drawn from a series 4 - 20 minute same pose.

First 20 is spent on "warm-up" gesture drawings, concentrating on the areas of the pose that are most challenging: hands, foreshortening, etc.
The second 20 was the soft pencil phase, getting the composition and drawing on the paper.
The third 20 minutes is painting the watercolor washes.
The final 20 minutes adding charcoal line work, details, cleanup, the backgound.

The other work are further examples with title and length of pose.

Open sessions are available at Winter Garden Art Center, Crealde, Maitland Art Center.
Check their website for schedules.
